Schema Therapy is an integrative form of psychotherapy that combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment theory, psychodynamic concepts, and emotion-focused techniques. Developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young, it focuses on identifying and changing deeply rooted patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving—known as schemas—that develop in childhood and continue to influence a person’s life. These maladaptive schemas often arise from unmet emotional needs and can lead to recurring negative life patterns, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress.
Schema Therapy helps individuals recognize these patterns, understand their origins, and learn healthier ways to meet their emotional needs. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been coming to therapy with me. It’s been such a privilege to walk alongside you on your journeys — through reflection, growth, and rediscovery.
So many of you are making wonderful progress, finding your voices, and feeling more confident in who you are. It’s beautiful to see the changes — both big and small — that come from courage and self-compassion.
Our results are freedom: freedom to feel, to choose, to live more fully and authentically.
